Charity Ski Weeks

Since 2009, Mt. Bachelor has raised nearly $475,000 through the Charity Ski Week program for Bend and Central Oregon area non-profit organizations aligned with our community values of supporting kids and families in need, student athlete academic achievement through the discipline of competitive alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding, and environmentally sustainable practices.

This year, we are pleased to announce that Mt. Bachelor is committed to donating $50,000 to local organizations who submitted project proposals. The specific beneficiaries and proposals will be announced in the coming days.

Charity Ski Week lift tickets are valid to use January 4, 2015 through January 15, 2015

Tickets are valid use every day during the Charity Ski Week period with the exception of Saturday, January 10. There is a limited number of tickets available. However, if we do not sell the total amount of tickets allocated for the January Charity Ski Weeks time period, we may launch a second Charity Ski Week ticket sale later in the season.

Charity Ski Week lift tickets are $39

At $39, these tickets represent a 50% discount off the regular adult ticket rate of $79! All proceeds from the sale of these ticket vouchers will be donated to the selected beneficiaries. There is a limited quantity of tickets; buy soon to before the tickets sell out!

WHO ARE THE BENEFICIARIES OF THE 2015 CHARITY SKI WEEK TICKET SALES?
Local non-profit organizations submitted project proposals in the fall and the 2015. The following organizations will receive grants from Mt. Bachelor totalling $50,000 in combined contributions:

WHERE AND WHEN CAN I PICK UP MY TICKET(S)?
Simply show a photo ID at any Mt. Bachelor ticket window on the day that you want to ski or ride. Tickets cannot be picked-up prior to your intended skiing or snowboarding day.

CAN I PURCHASE MORE THAN ONE TICKET?
Yes! You are welcome to purchase up to four (4) Charity Ski Week tickets.

ARE THE TICKETS TRANSFERABLE?
Yes and no. Yes in the sense that you can purchase a ticket on behalf of someone else. But once the ticket is assigned to another person - either during the purchase process or following one day of use, the ticket cannot be transferred to another person. During the eStore check-out process, you will be asked to assign the ticket to a person - yourself or someone else. Note that only the person whose name is assigned to the ticket can pick it up at the ski area. If one family member (mom, for example) puts all four family-member tickets in her name, that's fine... but mom will be the only person who can pick up the tickets and all members of the family must be present at the ticket window with mom in order to receive their ticket. The same would be true for a group of friends; the tickets can all be in one person's name, but each person in the group expecting to get a ticket must be present at the ticket window with the ticket purchaser. If a family or group of friends is planning to arrive separately or to ski on different dates, then it is best if each ticket is assigned individually so that each person can pick up his/her own ticket on their preferred day of first use.

ARE THE TICKETS REFUNDABLE?
No. These tickets represent a discount of 50% off the regular rates and as a trade-off for receiving such a significant discount, the tickets cannot be refunded under any circumstances - including medical emergencies or injuries. This non-refundable policy applies whether the tickets are picked up or not.

WHEN DO THE TICKETS EXPIRE?
All tickets will expire after at the end of the day on Thursday, January 15, 2015.

DURING THE PURCHASE PROCESS, DO I NEED TO SELECT THE DATE I WANT TO USE THE TICKETS?
No, you do not have to select your usage dates. During the purchase process, you are essentially purchasing an electronic ticket voucher. You can choose when you want to redeem that voucher (during the designated Charity Ski Week period) and collect the ticket(s) to use at Mt. Bachelor.

The Dirksen Derby

The Dirksen Derby is held in December. Hosted by internationally renowned local snowboarder Josh Dirksen, the event has raised over $35,000 for the Tyler Eklund Fund in the last 3 years. Tyler was paralyzed in April of 2007 in a snowboarding accident during a practice run for a national championship.  Despite the tragedy, Tyler is back at it and made 3 fast times in the Derby and one the first annual quadriplegic sit ski division. In 2008's Derby, Josh donated a custom made Salomon Sick Stick snowboard as a raffle prize. All the raffle money for the snowboard went towards Cole Ortega, Mt Bachelor Grom Squad member, to help cover medical costs from his surfing injury this past summer. Cole's arm was severed while surfing on the Oregon Coast in July of 2008. We plan to offer the event each year around our season's opening with 100% of the proceeds going towards different beneficiaries.
