Mountain Ambassadors

Volunteer Opportunities

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Mountain Ambassador program. We will begin accepting applications for the 2012-2013 season in October.

Do you think Mt. Bachelor is the Best Ski Resort in the world? If your answer is "yes", you might be a candidate for Mt. Bachelor's volunteer Mountain Ambassador program.

The Mountain Ambassador program is a volunteer program managed by our Mountain Services Department. Individuals in the Ambassador program typically have been skiing Mt. Bachelor for many years (some for decades!). A prerequisite for anyone applying for this Ambassador position is first hand, four-seasons knowledge of Central Oregon and of course, intimate knowledge of Mt. Bachelor and the year round services provided at the resort.

HOSPITALITY AND INFORMATION

Mountain Ambassadors are often the first people our visitors encounter when arriving at the resort. As a volunteer Ambassador, you will be extending hospitality and relating information regarding the many services offered in Mt. Bachelor’s day lodges, restaurants, ski school and rentals. And as anyone would expect, the volunteer Mountain Ambassadors are the most informed individuals on the hill when it comes to our lift/trail system.

All volunteers receive Guest Services training to become familiar with Mt. Bachelor’s inclusive operations and gain the knowledge needed to enhance the on mountain experience for our guests.

Volunteer Mountain Ambassadors must commit to two training days and 22 duty days. You will be volunteering 5 days a month from December through March and at least 2 days in April. Winter holidays, Presidents and MLK weekends and Spring Break weeks are priority volunteer periods. A duty day begins at 8:30am and ends at 4:00pm.

Ambassadors are required to have a current certification in First Aid and CPR. (Mt. Bachelor offers a limited number of 1st Aid/CPR certification classes the first week of December at nominal cost).

All Mt. Bachelor volunteer Ambassadors are required to join the National Ski Patrol “Mt Host Program” ($50.00 annual membership fee).

A Duty Day spent with the Mt. Bachelor volunteer Mountain Ambassador program is a structured day involving varied duty stations. These duties may include, but are not limited to: Ticket Lines, Concierge Desk, Lodge duties, Lift Duty (top/bottom), and conducting Guest Surveys. Every high traffic area at the resort is a potential duty station for our volunteers.

Volunteer Mountain Ambassadors are expected to be capable of skiing any named run on the front side lift systems in all weather conditions. However, a volunteer Duty Day does not always include skiing/riding.

Individuals accepted into the program receive a “Volunteer Season Pass” authorizing access to the lifts and use of Mt. Bachelor Ski Area. These passes are valid through our 2011-2012 winter season. Volunteer Passes do not include many of the benefits associated with an employee season pass.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Mountain Ambassador and would like more information, please complete the volunteer information sheet and provide us with a current resume. We will begin selecting new Mountain Ambassadors in mid-November.

Please be aware that Mt. Bachelor is a drug free work zone.  We require all volunteers and employees to take post offer drug screens.
