Mt. Bachelor's 57th winter season is tentatively planned to begin Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

Historically, snow at Mt. Bachelor tends to follow this saying: "October snow comes and goes, but November snow stays and grows." That said, Mother Nature is the boss... and she decides to deliver our base-building snow on her timetable. Some years she sends it early; other years she waits. So our planned opening date can certainly slide in either direction - sooner if we get significant early November snow (fingers crossed!) or later if the snow is slow to arrive.

We do have some ability to take matters into our own hands with our snowmaking system. It's not a large or expansive system - our 462 inches of natural snowfall, on average, means that we don't need to rely much on snowmaking. But when needed, our snowmaking system covers about 20 acres on the Thunderbird run. Starting in November, we'll make snow if the temperature & humidity permit and if the forecast gives us confidence that the snow will stay and grow.

Between November 1 and November 11, stop by our Season Pass Office in Bend's Old Mill District. There, you can get your pass photo taken and pick up your new season pass. The lines for pass photos and pick-up at the ski area can be quite lengthy the first couple weeks of the winter season, so avoid the hassle and swing by the Old Mill District office if you can. The office will be at the north end of the complex, near Jimmy John's. Operating hours will be 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

About a week before our opening day, we'll start updating this page every day. But between now and then, we'll update this page whenever there is exciting weather or snowfall news to report. The observed weather, visibily and wind information may not be accurate until this page is updated daily, so be sure to check out our new webcams to see for yourself what the conditions look like.

Keep thinking snow... and let's hope & pray for an early & plentiful beginning to the 2014-2015 winter season!
