Scenic Summertime Activities

Chairlift rides at Mt. Bachelor are a summer activity the whole family can enjoy! Your ride begins at the 6,300 foot elevation in our West Village base area and takes you on a relaxing ride to the Pine Marten Lodge perched at 7,775 feet.

Take in the sights of the Three Sisters peaks, Broken Top and the many Cascade Lakes. Experience views of over one million acres of pristine, undeveloped land. As summer progresses, the mountain exposes ancient lava flows, wildflowers and year-round snowfields.

You may catch a glimpse of a pine marten while enjoying the different species of evergreen trees, including Mountain Hemlock, Lodgepole and White Bark Pines. Seek out the snowfields left over from the winter season and catch a cool breeze.

Once you reach the top, what you do is up to you! You can:

  • Eat lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages - inside or on the deck - at Pine Marten Lodge
  • Hike the trails on the mountain or to the year-round snowfields
  • Play Disc Golf (course opens after the snow has melted - typically mid-July)
  • Join a US Forest Service Ranger for an Interpretive Tour

Chairlift Ride Helpful Hints

The Pine Marten Express Lift is equipped with a safety bar and seats four people comfortably. Children of all ages are welcome, but are the responsibility of the adults with them. Child seats and carriers are encouraged for children who cannot walk on their own. The lift is also handicap accessible.

When you come to see us at Mt Bachelor this summer, be sure to wear rugged shoes and clothing layers. Weather can change rapidly at higher elevations and a windproof jacket is always a good choice. Typically, temperatures are 6 to 8 degrees cooler at the base and 10 to 12 degrees cooler at mid-mountain than in Bend or Sunriver.

NOTE: Foot passenger summer sightseeing with or without snowshoes is permitted. The resort cannot support sleds, skis or snowboards during summer operations.
