Lessons

The Nordic Center closes for the 2007-2008 season on Sunday April 13th. The PPP course will be groomed for Wednesday and Saturday practice.  Thanks for a great season!  

Cross Country Skiing is now divided into two techniques or styles:  Classic (a.k.a. Diagonal Stride) where the skier glides straight-ahead in parallel tracks and Skate (a.k.a. Freestyle) which involves a motion similar to ice-skating or roller-blading.  Telemark is now taught from Mt. Bachelor's Alpine side.

Whether you prefer Classic or Skate, our talented Nordic Instructors teach skiers all the skills that you need to explore the beautiful Deschutes National Forest! 

Our Instructors have extensive backgrounds in Cross Country Skiing: from coaching to racing to decades spent instructing skiers in good technique.  All provide a friendly, positive environment for learning and all are passionate about improving your skiing no matter what level you start at.  Whether your goals are to just get used to those weird "sticks" strapped to your feet, or to blow by your peers in the PPP, our skilled Instructors will get you there!

Group Lessons: Classic or Skate

Lessons provide one hour of instruction and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Skiers are matched according to age and ability: from never-ever skied to advanced.  Appropriate for ages six and up.  Lesson requires valid trail pass.

Lesson Times: 9:00 AM, 10:15 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:45 PM, and 2:00PM, every day.
Sign Up: Nordic Center at West Village starting at 9:00 AM weekdays, 8:00 AM weekends.

Lesson Package

Designed especially for the beginner, this package includes a one-hour Group Lesson, Ski Rental and Trail Pass.  An excellent introduction to the sport!

Performance Ski Clinics

Achieve those long-term goals!  Performance clinics run throughout the season, vary from 4 to 6 weeks long and each session provides up to 1 1/2 hours of instruction. Make great strides in a short time: let this season be the one where you ski with the "big kids"!

Private Lessons

Personalized instruction for skiers at any level!  One-hour lesson can be reserved in advance, and you can ask for your favorite instructor!  Lesson times are by appointment, please call 800-829-2442 extension 2210.  Longer sessions are available.  Lesson requires valid trail pass.

Snowshoe Lessons/Tours 

Lessons for groups are available!  Have fun and go play outside this winter!  Snowshoe lessons give techniques for getting off trail and information for setting out on your own.
