Frequently Asked Questions
As you consider purchasing the Mt. Bachelor Season Pass that is right for you, please review the answers to some of the most Frequently Asked Questions:
Buy A New Pass? Or Reactivate a Pass? |
|
Buy A New Pass means that you will need a brand new picture-ID pass media card. Reactivate Pass means that you will be re-using the picture-ID pass media card that you already have. Even if you are switching Pass types, you can still reactivate the picture-ID pass media card. (For example, if you had a Spring Pass last season, then you can reactivate that Pass into a Full Winter Season Pass for the upcoming season and use the same picture-ID pass media card that you already have in-hand.) Certain types of Passes and situations cannot be reactivated:
If any one of the situations listed above applies to you, then you will need to Buy A New Pass and you'll need to pick-up a new picture-ID pass media card before your first lift ride this season. Otherwise, you can reactivate your Pass and you can go directly to the lift on your first day of the season! |

Season Pass Fall Payment Plan |
|
NOTE: The Fall Payment Plan is no longer available, as the September 13th purchase deadline has passed. The Fall Payment Plan is available for those who wish to spread their payments out over time. The Plan requires a $49 down payment, which includes a $20 processing fee, before September 13th. Half of the remaining balance will be charged on October 15th, with the final balance charged on November 15th. The same credit/debit card will be charged for all payments. I don't have a credit card, how do I participate in the Fall Payment Plan? Is the $49 down payment refundable? How long will the Fall Payment Plan be available? How will the Fall Payment Plan be implemented? Can I do my down payment on a credit card then pay the rest later with a check/cash? Can I reactivate my pass from last year on the Fall Payment Plan, or do I need to buy a new one? Can I adjust or modify the $49 down payment and the October 15th & November 15th charges? |
Refunds and the Season Pass Refund Protection Plan |
|
There are NO REFUNDS on Season Passes - even if the Season Pass is never picked up or used. The only exception to the NO REFUND policy is for those who opt to purchase Season Pass Refund Protection. Mt. Bachelor offers this voluntary, opt-in program to help you protect your investment. By purchasing Season Pass Refund Protection, you have the ability to receive all or a portion of the cost of your Pass if you are unable to begin or finish the 2012-2013 winter season in the event of documented injury/illness, pregnancy, relocation (some restrictions apply) or military deployment. Cost is $15 or $30, depending on your age group and the type of Pass. Click Here for complete details. |

Season Pass Pricing Methodology |
|
Why doesn't Mt. Bachelor sell a really cheap Adult Season Pass? Throughout the ski industry, each resort's season pass pricing is aligned with a resort's operating costs and pass usage. Resorts that experience high utilization from their passholders typically charge more for the season pass, while resorts with low passholder utilization may offer lower prices. Due to the close proximity to its local community, Mt. Bachelor experiences very high pass utilization - more than 20 days per season - for the average Passholder. Multi-resort pass operators and those who sell high volumes of lower-priced passes typically see average utilization as low as 6 days per pass. Furthermore, the skiing & snowboarding population in Central Oregon is not vast enough for Mt. Bachelor to enact a successful high-volume, low-price model for season passes. Even so, Mt. Bachelor strives to make skiing and snowboarding as affordable as possible through its mix of pass products at varying price points. Why not offer a "locals-only" pass or daily ticket? When Mt. Bachelor offers a product, it must be made available to everyone. The lawyers say that Mt. Bachelor cannot "discriminate" since the mountain is located on Forest Service land. Different products at different prices can be offered, but a certain market or any group of individuals cannot be excluded from the offers based on place of residence. Consequently, Mt. Bachelor has created programs, passes and days that locals are more likely to take advantage of. Season Passes and the mulit-week Snowsports School programs are two examples. Ski for Schools and Charity Ski Weeks are another. Again these programs cannot "discriminate" and must be available for all to take advantage of them. Furthermore, "locals" account for more than half of Mt. Bachelor's total skier visit volume, not some small sliver. Pricing is set based on the demand from our primary markets inclusive of "locals". |
