Mt. Bachelor's 3,683 acres are located entirely within the Deschutes National Forest and surrounded by 2 million acres of forested wilderness. While being in such a natural environment allows for scenic beauty rarely visible elsewhere, it also means that Mt. Bachelor is not able to offer overnight accommodations at the base of the ski area itself. Instead, Mt. Bachelor partners with lodging properties in our base communities of Bend and Sunriver, which are each 20-25 minutes away in driving time.
Most lodging properties offer transportation options to and from the mountain, and the Mt. Bachelor Shuttle operates multiple trips daily between Bend and Mt. Bachelor. So if you don't want to drive, you don't have to!
Just 22 miles from Mt. Bachelor, the friendly town of Bend is a warm, inviting mountain getaway with a cosmopolitan appeal. Whether you want to be steps away from the action of downtown, in a cozy secret hideaway, or gazing at the evening skyline from your campsite, you'll feel right at home in any of Bend's many lodging options. From world-class resorts and boutique hotels, to cozy bed-and-breakfasts and an abundant mix of vacation homes and condominium rentals, Bend offers the perfect lodging accommodations for every visitor and every budget.
Majestic snow-capped peaks permeate the high-desert skyline, making for some of the best weather in Oregon - sun-drenched days and cool nights - along with endless options for plenty of play time. Skiing, snowboarding, golfing, fishing, hiking, biking and rafting are just a few of the outdoor adventures you can tackle in a weekend or a week. Dubbed the "outdoor playground of the West" for a thousand good reasons, Bend is world famous for both its outdoor pursuits and pristine beauty. You can catch an art exhibit downtown, dine at an award-winning restaurant, spoil yourself at one of our many spas, or summit South Sister, the state's third highest peak. Bend is also known as "Beer City, USA", so be sure to sample some of the many micro-brews on tap inside one of Bend's 12 breweries!
