To all of our loyal Mt. Bachelor pass holders

I am very happy to be (back) here, and I would like to quickly introduce myself to those of you who don’t already know me. I realize that most of our inboxes are overflowing so I will keep this note short.

My name is Matt Janney, and I am the newly appointed President and General Manager of Mt. Bachelor. I first moved to Bend in 1976 and enjoyed every minute of living in this community. Even though this area has grown, it has been able to retain all of the great virtues that brought most of us here in the first place, and those attributes are why we enjoy living here or spending our vacation time here.

Mt. Bachelor is the jewel that first caught my interest and triggered my dreams of one day being able to move to the high desert. Since then I have been very fortunate to make a career in the sport my parents first introduced me to when I was six years old. I spent 26 great years working at Mt. Bachelor, and in 2003 moved to North Lake Tahoe to become the president of three ski resorts there – Alpine Meadows, Boreal, and Soda Springs.

I have spent the last four years in the Sierra Mountains and the heart of the California ski industry. While our stay there was short in comparison to the time I spent at Mt. Bachelor, simultaneously managing three resorts in Tahoe enabled me to gain valuable new perspectives that I will be able to apply with a fresh set of eyes to Mt. Bachelor.

We offer many great amenities at the mountain like fun summer activities, great retail products, and fine dining, but one area which we will not lose focus on is our passion for skiing and riding. That’s who we are, and we will continue improving our products and services as we grow.

I feel very fortunate to be carrying on the great legacy of Mt. Bachelor, but we won’t be resting on our laurels. My immediate intentions are to focus our team, and work with the community, to take Mt. Bachelor to the next level where the best skiing and riding in North America is.

I look forward to being back home, and getting to work! See you on your favorite run…
