KNOW YOUR SKILLS AND LEARN THE TERRAIN BEFORE JUMPING!!
Safety comes first at Mt. Bachelor Terrain Parks and we would like the terrain park user to be aware of the SMART STYLE terrain park safety program. Please visit www.terrainparksafety.org and check out the safety video and the many other features of the site.
Three main points of Smart Style
- LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
- Before getting into freestyle terrain observe all signage and warnings
- Scope around the jumps first not over them
- Use your first run as a warm up run and to familiarize yourself with the terrain
- Be aware that the features change constantly due to weather, usage, grooming and time of day
- Do not jump blindly and use a spotter when necessary
- EASY STYLE IT
- Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level
- Look for small progression parks or features to begin with and work your way up
- Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air
- Do not attempt any features unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely
- Inverted aerials increase your risk of injury and are not recommended
- RESPECT GETS RESPECT
- Respect the terrain and others
(freestyle terrain is for everyone regardless of equipment or ability) - One person on a feature at a time
- Wait your turn and call your start
- Always clear the landing area quickly
- Respect all signs and stay off closed terrain and features
- Respect the terrain and others
Make sure to stop and say hi to the parks staff who are out digging all day.
Superpipe
We are excited to announce a new PipeCutter to the team. The Superpipe will be built and maintained by Stu Epps this season. Stu has made the move to Bachelor from Boreal with Ellerbe . Stu Brings his 10 years experience in a SnowCat and 5 years pipe cutting experiance to the team. Pat Malendoski will return and consult again with us this season! The Mt. Bachelor Superpipe has served as the home to the Chevy Truck US Snowboard Grand Prix and 2006 Olympic Qualifier! Next to the Pine Marten Express, the Superpipe is 400 feet long with 18.5 foot walls. With our Zaugg Pipe Monster hooked up to a winch cat this season and Stu cutting the pipe almost every night, look for the pipe to be better than ever before.
