Kids Multi-Week Programs

NOTE - Group Snowsports programs have concluded for the 2012-2013 season.
Private lessons - by advance appointment - will continue to be available through Sunday, May 26.

Mt. Bachelor's multi-week programs are pretty awesome! Kids get the same coach every time. They ski or ride with lots of the same kids each week, make tons of friends and end up knowing the terrain better than mom or dad. They'll learn life lessons like responsibility, trust, safety, and navigation while they have fun on the mountain.

We accept reservations online through our e-store (see below). Alternatively, we accept reservations through our Call Center at 800.829.2442. Payment is taken at the time your reservation is made. We accept MasterCard, VISA, American Express and Discover cards.

Kids Multi-Week Program Details (click to reveal)

Thank you for your interest in the Mt. Bachelor Kids Snowsports programs. Our multi-week programs are designed to provide kids with an optimal learning experience and, along the way, develop a love of snowsports that will last a life time. Did we mention they will have a great deal of fun, too?

This guide will help answer questions, give program details and help you determine if the Mighty Mites or All Mountain Skiers and Riders programs are right for your child. There are details about location, times, what to bring and other pertinent information. We have tried to answer most questions, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions that are not answered here.

Our coaches are select members of our ski & snowboard school who specialize in teaching young skiers and snowboarders. Please respect our minimum age requirements. Our core focuses are FUN, mountain awareness and skill improvement through progressive coaching that will create strong, independent skiers and riders with a love of snowsports.

The All Mountain Skiers and Riders program is for skiers and snowboarders looking to develop the fundamental skills needed to advance to a competitive racing program, or for those looking to ski with a group of friends with the guidance and instruction of a coach in all mountain conditions. Coaches for the race-oriented groups are selected because of additional training in USSA coaching techniques and previous racing/coaching experience.

Coaches address lift riding safety with students and carefully explain how to load and unload the lift.  Our lift operations team also assist in this process. However, we do not guarantee students ride the lift with a coach or an adult.  Mountain Rippers, Mountain Riders and the private lesson associated with that age group are the only lessons we guarantee the student rides with an instructor.

Any requests or questions can be e-mailed to Tosha Treat at ttreat@mtbachelor.com.

Meeting Time and Location

9:30am - Meeting time for All Mountain Skiers and Riders program
10:00am - Meeting time for Mighty Mites

Meet on the snow, slope side and just east of the Sunrise Lodge (West Village Lodge for sessions 1 and 4) in the large fenced staging area. Please look for the colored flags and signs that designate the applicable programs. We have three sets of signs. Mites will be at the bottom of the hill in the fenced in area, with All Mountain Skiers and Riders above the Mighty Mites. Snowboarders will meet above Skiers. Please take your child to the appropriate level inside their designated program. Within the more advanced levels, coaches will determine which students want more of a race oriented program or an all mountain program. The guide below will help you determine your child’s level.

  • Level 2 – Straight gliding, gliding wedge, able to stop, intro to Wedge turn.
  • Level 3 – Independently and without any assistance, stopping, turning and linking wedge turns on lift access terrain.
  • Level 4 – Wedge-Christie turns with progressively earlier matching
  • Level 5 – Skis are almost parallel, with a small wedge entry. Can ski most of runs at Mt. Bachelor.

Pick Up Time & Location

Pick up time is 3:00pm in the same staging area where your child was dropped off. If your child has other arrangements for going home, please communicate that to his or her coach. Each parent must sign their child out with their coach every week.

What Does My Child Need To Bring?

Please have your child prepared with:

  • Lift ticket or season pass. While Mighty Mite students who are 5 and under ski free, parents still need to pick-up a “Child’s Ticket” at a ticket window.
  • Rental or own equipment - labeled w/ child’s name (duct tape works well).
  • Lunch, in a labeled, weatherproof container. (Large zip baggies work great).
  • Weatherproof jacket and pants.
  • Helmet, gloves and under-layers.
  • Goggles or sunglasses.
  • Sunscreen and lip balm.
  • Release Form!! Don’t forget your child’s release form. Download it here: Snowsports School Release Form

Minor Helmet Requirement

Mt. Bachelor strives to be an industry leader in Mountain Safety. To further this goal we are requiring students 17 and under in any Snowsports School lesson program to wear ski and snowboard specific helmets during lessons. For your convenience Mt. Bachelor offers helmets for rent or sale. Additional information about helmets and Snowsports can be found on the NSAA’s website at lidsonkids.org.

Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation

Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation (MBSEF) is a non profit organization whose guiding philosophy is to encourage academic achievement and promote the positive values of competitive Alpine, Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding, and Cycling.

Joining the MBSEF is the next step for a young skier or snowboarder who is serious about skill development and competitive training after he/she has progressed through Mt. Bachelor's Snowsports School.

As a member club of the United States Ski & Snowboard Association, all MBSEF programs are organized following the guidelines that have been established by USSA for skier development. The goals of MBSEF are to provide the opportunity for introductory to advanced levels of training and competition, assist in the healthy development of all participants through the pursuit of athletic, academic and personal goals, and to encourage academic achievement and promote the positive values developed through competitive sports.

More information about MBSEF is available at MBSEF.org. Mt. Bachelor supports MBSEF through a variety of charitable functions.
