Pond Skimming is back May 17 with new and exciting plans!

Come join Mt Bachelor for the 8th Annual North American Pond Skimming Championships presented by Pepsi. The traditional Pond Skim is the marquis event based on style, costume and making it across the pond. But now you can also enter the Splash for Cash! It is somewhat like the high-jump competition. A target will be held over the pond in one place for a round of competitors to try and hit it as they jump into the pond. If you hit it, you move on, if you don't, you are wet and you are done. Each round the target will get harder to reach until there is a winner. The prize payouts and swag will be determined based on the number of competitors. $10 will be in the prize pool for every competitor in the Splash for Cash. In honor of last year's Pond Skimming winner the target is likely to be a rubber chicken!

  • Folks can enter one competition for $25 or both for $35.
  • Prizes will be given to the top-three skimmers, Splash for Cashers and best costumes. Also, all participants have a chance at winning a 2009/10 Season Pass.
  • A total of 100 spots are available. You can register now by calling (541) 382-1709 during business hours Monday through Friday.
  • Day of registration will occur in the Ski School yurt from 9-10 am on Sunday.
  • Fill out your Release Form here.
  • Registration: 9-10am in the yurt
  • The event starts at 10:30am

This is a super fun event for participants and spectators. We will have live music by the River Pigs (a classic rock band), a beer garden and the barbeque will be going!
