Sunset Dinners

Escape to the mountains and dine with us Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights to discover why sunset dinners at Mt. Bachelor are Central Oregon's most unique dining experience. Step out onto the deck while the sun still lingers over the scenic Cascade Range. Enjoy globally inspired cuisine, with a different buffet theme each weekend. Dine on fine Central Oregon sourced fare with tastings from local breweries, distilleries, and wineries...all at 7,800 feet. Dining with friends, family or that special someone, a Sunset Dinner at Pine Marten Lodge is one you won’t forget. Complete your night with a moonlight chairlift ride down the slopes of Mt Bachelor.

The Sunset Dinner experience is a gourmet buffet with a rotating menu theme each week (see below). The dinner package is $59 for adults and $29 for youth (6-12), including a $10 deposit due at the time of reservation. The remaining balance of $49 (adult) and $19 (youth) can be paid to your server at the end of dinner. Soft drinks are included, but alcoholic beverages, special-order items and gratuity are extra. A complimentary scenic chairlift ride is included with the Sunset Dinner experience.

Reservations are required, please call 541-382-1709 to reserve your space, a $10 deposit per person is required at the time of your reservation. Reservations are available starting at 5:00 p.m. with the last reservation at 7:45 p.m. each day that dinner is offered.

2017-18 Winter Season Pass holders (Full Season and Midweek): As a gesture of thanks for your patronage last winter, we'll provide you with a coupon valid for $10 off your Sunset Dinner buffet. Please identify yourself as as season pass holder when you check-in at the ticket center. The dinner servers at Pine Marten Lodge are not able to discount your meal without the coupon, so it's important that you receive one at check-in.

Cancellation Policy: In the event of a Sunset Dinner cancellation, please call 541-382-1709 at least 48 hours in advance of your dinner reservation time. Your deposit will be refunded given a 48 hour notice. The deposit will not be refunded for no shows or cancellations less than 48 hours in advance.

A variety of foods exploring the diverse and plentiful ecosystem surrounding the Cascade Mountains. Buffet offerings include elk short ribs, seared polenta cakes, watercress & frisee salad, steelhead gravlax, cucumber & prosciutto roulade and delicious desserts.

July 6-8, 2018

Tour De France Series: Stage One, Northwest France

We will celebrate the kick-off of the famous bike race and Central Oregon's great road-biking culture by following the Tour around the various regions of France. As the race meanders through Normandy and Brittany, we will enjoy cuisine inspired by the people of Northwest France. Buffet offerings include venison sausage-stuffed quail, prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast, garden vegetable ratatouille, pork rillettes, nicoise salad, baked brie en croute and delicious desserts.

Tour De France Series: Stage Two, The Pyrenees

Aside from producing giant white fluffy dogs, the Pyrenees are a melting pot of culinary cultures. As the Tour enters the mountains, we will draw inspiration from foods of the mountains, as well as French and Spanish cultures. Buffet offerings include beef dauble with pommes aligot, seafood paella, vegetable pappardelle pasta with sofrito sauce, roasted green beans with tomato, lemon & chive, cheese & charcuterie and delicious desserts.

Tour De France Series: Stage Three, The Alps

As the tour crescendos through the European Alps, we enjoy the luxury of drawing from multiple countries with rich culinary cultures. The summer harvest season in Central Oregon provides a wide range of ingredients to explore cuisine influenced from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Italy. Buffet offerings include lamb osso bucco, beef maltaschen, spaetzle with hunter's sauce, German warm potato salad, Caraway cabbage salad, alpine fondue and delicious desserts.

Willamette Valley Wine Country

Oregon's Willamette Valley provides ideal growing conditions for a variety of grapes, especially Pinot Noir. This year, the International Pinot Noir Festival is being celebrated across the mountains in McMinnville. Join us as we watch the sunset with food pairings inspired by the wines of the Northwest. Buffet offerings include beef Wellington, seared rainbow trout, high country salad, Northwest crab fritters, Oregon cheese & fruit display, Draper Valley chicken salad and delicious desserts.

Deschutes County Rodeo: Home on the Range

We are grateful for the men and women raising cattle across the region. We are also grateful for the entertainment of men and women attempting to hang on to said cattle for eight seconds. Most of all, we are grateful for the nourishment provided by the cows and the delicious food options we gain from them. Mt. Bachelor is supplied by talented ranchers from our local food shed and we will make them feel at home with comfort food from the ranch. Buffet offerings include prime rib of beef, roasted barbecue 8-piece chicken, bacon mac & cheese, succotash with fried corn grits, high desert potato salad, bison wontons, garden slaw and delicious desserts.

Battle of Marathon

Mid-August marks the weekend of the Haulin’ Aspen Marathon. What better way to commemorate the painful 26.2 miles than with a dining experience that harkens back to Ancient Greece and the Aegean sea? We will be remembering the origin of the Marathon with a culinary exploration of the Mediterranean. Buffet offerings include porchetta, roasted vegetable moussaka, sole roulade florentine, lamb souvlaki skewers, antipasto spears, vegetarian dolmades and delicious desserts.

Harvest Celebration

Anyone who visits the farmer’s market knows that come late August, the variety of products available from local farmers and ranchers reaches a high point. The local food shed of Central Oregon provides us with a surprising amount of nourishment considering our High Desert climate. We want to take an opportunity to thank our local farms by highlighting their hard work with a truly farm to mountain experience. Buffet offerings include cedar plank salmon, coffee-rubbed tri-tip of beef, honey-roasted new potatoes, roasted vegetable medley, summer squash rollatini, fresh melon & prosciutto salad, fava bean dip with garlic & goat cheese and delicious desserts.

Pacific Ring of Fire

With the recent volcanic activity in Hawaii, the powerful history of our own volcanic mountains becomes strangely more noticeable. In honor of the people of Hawaii, and the Volcanic Bike & Brew Festival at Mt. Bachelor this weekend, our menu will be inspired by Polynesian culture across the Pacific Rim. Buffet offerings include braised short ribs with sweet potato, grilled mahi with pineapple, lomi salmon salad, kalua manapua, traditional macaroni salad, tropical green salad and delicious desserts.

Pray for Snow

As we conclude our Sunset Dinner tour of the summer, we turn our thoughts toward the coming winter season. In hopes of another epic snow year, we will celebrate the close of summer with a taste of snowier times. The hint of fall in the night air reminds us of falling leaves, family celebrations, the holiday season, and best of all - snow. We’ll do our best to appease the snow gods with a dining experience inspired by the soon-to-be snowcapped peaks. Buffet offerings include shepherd's pie, seared duck breast, fall mushroom ravioli, roasted acorn squash, roasted root vegetables, crisp fall salad and delicious desserts.

HELPFUL HINTS

  • Arrive at the mountain at least 25 minutes before your reservations to allow time to get your lift tickets and ride the chair. This means give yourself 1 hour from Bend or Sunriver.
  • Pick up your lift ticket at the Mountain Gateway building at the base of the walkway.
  • Chair ride is approximately 12 minutes one way.
  • Lift ticket is for a round trip ride, or you can hike down.
  • You can always come to the mountain even earlier and sight see or have a drink in the lounge while you wait for your reservations.
  • Bring a light jacket or dress in layers. The temperature on the mountain is typically 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Bend/Sunriver.
  • Base lodge is 6,300 feet, Pine Marten Lodge is 7,775 feet.
  • The road no longer ends at Mt Bachelor in summer so don't forget to bear left after Dutchman Sno-Park.
