Embark on a guided snowshoe tour through the old growth forests on the lower flanks of North America’s seventh-largest ski resort. Join local author and historian Glenn Voelz for the hour-and-half interpretive tour that discusses Mount Bachelor's natural and cultural history while exploring the spectacular alpine scenery. The tour covers a two-mile route that gently climbs to a stunning high point for sunset, traverses to capture breathtaking views of the Three Sisters Wilderness, pauses for a trailside hot chocolate break, and returns to the Nordic Lodge as dusk descends upon the snowy landscape. Enjoy light snacks and conversation as you warm up by the cozy wood stove. Additional food and beverages are available for purchase. Be sure to bring a headlamp!
The tour leaves promptly at 4:00 p.m. from the Nordic Lodge. Guests should bring a headlamp with fresh batteries and proper clothing layers for outdoor activity. Snowshoes and poles are provided for all tour participants, although participants are welcome to use their own equipment if desired. For those renting equipment, please arrive by 3:30 p.m. to be ready for the 4:00 p.m. departure time. The planned route covers approximately two miles of beginner to intermediate-level snowshoe trails with some hills and uneven terrain. The price includes the guided tour, snowshoe rentals, hot drinks, and snacks at the end of the tour. This tour is dependent on weather conditions. In the event of heavy snow or wind, the tour will be canceled, and participants will be given the choice of a full refund or rescheduling for another tour date. This tour is appropriate for ages 8 and up, however all youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
$59 (includes trail pass, snowshoe rental, hot chocolate, and snacks)
