During the core part of the winter season, lessons are available every day at the Nordic Center! One-hour Cross Country lessons start from the lodge five times daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Choose a group lesson or reserve a private lesson for one-on-one instruction. Sessions longer than one hour include our multi-week performance clinics in skate and classic techniques, offered throughout the season.
Cross Country Skiing is divided into two techniques or styles: Classic (a.k.a. Diagonal Stride) where the skier glides straight-ahead in parallel tracks and Skate (a.k.a. Freestyle) which involves a motion similar to ice-skating or roller-blading. Telemark is taught from Mt. Bachelor's Alpine side.
Whether you prefer Classic or Skate, our talented Nordic Instructors teach all you need to know in a beautiful fresh air "classroom"!
Our Instructors have extensive backgrounds in Cross Country Skiing: from coaching to racing to decades spent instructing skiers in good technique. All provide a friendly, positive environment for learning and all are passionate about improving your skiing no matter what level you start at. Whether your goals are to get used to those weird "sticks" strapped to your feet or to blow by your peers in the PPP, our skilled Instructors will get you there!
Lessons provide one hour of instruction and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Skiers are matched according to age and ability, from never-ever to advanced. Appropriate for ages six and up. The lesson requires a valid trail pass. Sign up at the Nordic Center starting at 9:00 a.m. daily.
Lesson Times: TBD
The Lesson Package is designed especially for the beginner, and includes a one-hour Group Lesson, Ski Rental and Trail Pass - an excellent introduction to the sport!
