Trailhead Lodge: A Thoughtful Approach to Hospitality
As Mt. Bachelor works to establish Trailhead Lodge, its new hotel and employee housing property, the process is being guided by more than design and amenity updates. From the outset, the project team has taken a thoughtful and intentional approach to ensuring that materials from the previous tenant continue to serve a meaningful purpose within the Central Oregon community.
Trailhead Lodge is a 6.6 acre, 70-room basecamp nestled against the Deschutes National Forest, just 20 minutes from the ski slopes and less than 10 minutes from downtown Bend. Mt. Bachelor is positioning the space as a vibrant, year-round hub for adventure, connection, and community, and aims to bring the culture and energy of the mountain to Trailhead Lodge via purposeful actions that speak to the resort’s brand, values, and partnerships.
“As we develop the concept and feel of Trailhead Lodge, every decision is rooted in how the space can best serve our community,” said Erin Bohon, Mt. Bachelor’s Director of Resort Services. “Collaborating with local nonprofits is one way we are bringing our vision to life. We’re not just running a hotel, we’re strengthening partnerships and integrating our fellow community members into the process.”
Furnish Hope and Shepherd’s House Ministries are two local nonprofits working with Mt. Bachelor to facilitate a thoughtful transformation of the property. As Mt. Bachelor updates guest rooms and communal spaces to reflect its unique brand, leaders at both organizations have assembled teams to collect and repurpose items such as furniture, clothing, hygiene products, and dishware to support the need for supplies and everyday essentials among recipients of their services.
These donations represent far more than simple amenities – they provide stability, comfort, and a sense of dignity during challenging times.
“It’s important to us that these items don’t go to waste,” continued Bohon. “We’re grateful to Furnish Hope and Shepherd’s House for rallying with us to address ongoing needs in the community.”
As renovations move forward, Mt. Bachelor remains committed to ensuring the evolution of Trailhead Lodge reflects the values of stewardship, sustainability, and community connection.
