2024 Mountain Clean Up Presented by Pepsi
The annual Play Forever Mountain Clean Up presented by Pepsi was a huge success. Over 100 volunteers came to help us collect litter before the snow flies. They wrapped the day up with a free lunch, courtesy of our partners at Pepsi, and an epic raffle drawing, including a 2024/25 Season Pass, skis, and a snowboard from our Mt. Bachelor Sports Shop.
At this year’s event, we collected 993 pounds of litter. Of that total, only 146 pounds consisted of large, heavy items such as rubber, metal, and wood. That means we removed 847 pounds of microplastics, cans, and bottles. In addition to this, our employees did bi-weekly “mini mountain cleanups” throughout the summer and collected 451 pounds of litter. In total, we removed nearly 1,500 pounds of litter from the mountain since the snow melted in June. Way to go!
The sorting teams worked hard to sift through each bucket of litter and separate waste into 5 streams: recyclable metals, commingled recyclables, wood, glass, and landfill.
The Mt. Bachelor team was blown away by the enthusiasm and work ethic at this year’s event. We love seeing our community come together in the name of environmental stewardship and will continue to do our best to be good caretakers of this land and its inhabitants.
Big thank you to our volunteers, events, grooming, transportation, and food & beverage teams.
