Mt. Bachelor Attends Ski Conservation Summit

Copper Mountain Resort hosted its 5th annual Ski Conservation Summit on Wednesday, July 23 at Aerie, Copper’s mid-mountain lodge.  

The event intends to build conversation within the outdoor recreation industry to advance support for natural ecosystems. Resort operators, local land managers, non-profit organizations, public land administrators, academic experts, students and citizen-stewards gathered to learn about and share innovative ideas and ways to increase the resilience of local ecosystems where we live, work and recreate. This year's Summit featured presentations from The Nature Conservancy, Adventure Scientists, Copper Mountain Resort, Sun Valley, Vail Resorts, and more.

My favorite part of the Ski Conservation Summit was learning about Copper’s carbon sequestration project. It was really neat to see how they leverage partnerships with local universities, students, and professors for the mutual benefit of research and environmental sustainability while beautifying and diversifying plant species on the slopes.

  • Inspire Innovation: Dive into a world of innovative ideas and best practices aimed at fortifying the resilience of our local ecosystems.  
  • Stay Informed: Stay ahead of the curve with insights from groundbreaking studies and the latest academic discourse on conservation science.  
  • Create Connections: Outdoor recreation managers seize the opportunity to connect with academic research avenues, fostering a dynamic exchange of knowledge and opportunities.
