Mt. Bachelor Partners with Vamonos Outside
Mt. Bachelor has partnered with Vamonos Outside (VO) in several capacities over the past few years to provide year-round outdoor recreation opportunities for LatinX youth as part of our Play Forever initiative.
We believe that everyone should be able to experience the joy that is moving through the mountains, and feel welcome in those spaces. We recognize that barriers and inequalities exist in the outdoor recreation industry and actively work with local partners like VO to address challenges for marginalized and underrepresented individuals and groups.
We do this through scholarships, financial contributions, and employee engagement. In the last two years, we have provided over $64,000 in winter ski/ride scholarships and summer rafting scholarships to VO.
We were also able to help VO purchase a new van with the proceeds from the Skyliner chair fundraiser, which generated $25,000.
A note from our partners at VO:
This year we saw the ripple effect of our collective efforts in the community: we are witnessing multi-generational, and familial engagement in our winter programs, which shows an increase of trust and growth in our program. People are inquiring about lessons, job fairs and are learning more about the benefits of working at Bachelor.
Most importantly, we are inviting the community to experience the beauty of Mt Bachelor and feel the goodness of time spent outdoors with family and friends.
We are so grateful for your support and partnership and look forward to growing together each year. If you would be so kind to share this note with the rest of the Play Forever team I would appreciate the team knowing the impact we have made together this year.
A couple shout outs to a few teams that have been instrumental in cultivating our partnership with VO:
- Ski and Ride School leadership and coaches for providing lessons to the Ski or Ride in 5 scholarship recipients
- Rentals and Tickets teams for helping VO acquire free rentals and CET bus passes
- IT for setting up Play Forever comp products and discount codes
- Food & Beverage teams for providing complimentary lunch for VO program participants
- Sun Country Tours for working with VO to get youth and families out on the Big Eddy and the Lower Deschutes at no cost
- Nordic leadership for hosting Camp Chica XC ski programs and the postseason family meet-up, "Vámonos a la Montaña"
- The Resort Leadership Team for supporting the Skyliner Chair fundraiser, which raised $25,000 for VO!

We look forward to continuing our partnership with VO and working to engage more of our community members in outdoor recreation! To learn more about VO, or donate to their programs, visit their website.
